Description
Lunch-n-Learn: Business Continuity Planning Awareness
Instructor Jeanne D. Powell, MBCP, PMP, DAHR Consulting Inc; Rowlett CERT Instructor
This presentation is intended to raise awareness of Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery (BC/DR) planning for small businesses. We will talk about what resiliency is and why you should care about it; clarify some terms and identify different types of disasters for this area; review what to expect from public responders and civic leaders; and some of what a small business plan for business recovery and disaster recovery (yes, they are different) should have. Jeanne developed a very basic Business Recovery and Disaster Recovery Plan Workbook for small businesses, which you will take with you. It is intended to give you a head start on building your own plans.
Jeanne Powell, MBCP, PMP is the CEO of DAHR Consulting, Inc. She is both a Certified Master Business Continuity Professional and a Certified Project Management Professional. Jeanne retired from the IBM Corporation after 36 years, with 26 of those years in the IBM Resiliency Services US group - the disaster recovery wing of IBM. She was the Business Continuity Program Manager for all IBM Resiliency Services US sites for over 16 years. Jeanne’s experience and subject matter expertise is both wide and deep in business, I/T, communications (both technical and crisis messaging), facilities, and disasters.
